Who we are

RAEDY INC. ("RAEDY," "we," "us," or "our") operates Lanterns, a local-first mobile logic puzzle game for iOS and Android.

Scope

This Privacy Policy applies to the Lanterns mobile app, the Lanterns legal pages that link to this policy, and messages you send us about Lanterns. It does not apply to RAEDY's other products, services, or websites, which may have their own privacy notices.

Summary

Lanterns is accountless and local-first. Your gameplay progress, preferences, and most app information stay on your device. We do not offer accounts, profiles, cloud saves, payments, subscriptions, advertising, cross-app tracking, multiplayer, chat, or user-generated content in Lanterns v1.

Remote diagnostics and product analytics are optional, independently controlled, and off by default. We use Sentry only if you enable diagnostics. We use PostHog only if you separately enable anonymous usage analytics after choosing the in-app 16-or-older eligibility option. We do not sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.

Information we process

Information stored on your device

Lanterns stores the following information in the app's local storage to provide the game and remember your choices:

settings such as haptics, motion, contrast, sound, and reminder preferences;
tutorial status, timestamps, replay count, and invalid-attempt count;
puzzle, level, completion, hint, mistake, best-time, saved-board, and resume information;
Daily Light unlocks, completion history, local dates, and streak information;
trophies, mural progress, and reward timestamps; and
privacy choices, including telemetry decisions, decision timestamps, and local telemetry eligibility choice.

This information is not sent to a RAEDY gameplay server because Lanterns does not have one. It remains on your device until it is overwritten, you clear the app's data, or you uninstall the app. Operating-system or device-backup services may retain copies under their own rules. We generally cannot retrieve, change, or remotely delete app data that never leaves your device.

Local reminders and diagnostics

If you enable Daily Light reminders, Lanterns requests your device's notification permission and schedules reminders locally. Lanterns does not register a remote push token with a RAEDY server. Scheduled reminders are reconciled for up to 30 days and are removed when you turn reminders off, subject to your device's operating-system behavior.

Lanterns also keeps a rolling local diagnostic log of up to 120 entries. It can contain timestamps, technical error information, app and runtime state, storage-failure context, and limited puzzle or route context. The whole log stays on your device. If you enable diagnostics, only a minimized, allowlisted subset may be included with a Sentry event.

Optional Sentry diagnostics

If a public Lanterns build has Sentry configured and you enable Share diagnostics, we may send Sentry limited diagnostic information, including crash and error type, redacted error text, stack traces, minimized startup or failure breadcrumbs, session-health information, app version, build number, platform, operating-system and runtime context, and network information such as IP address in transit.

We use this information to identify, investigate, and fix crashes and reliability problems. Lanterns is configured not to use Sentry session replay, screenshots, performance tracing, profiling, touch tracing, view-hierarchy capture, or unrestricted error text. We do not intentionally send your name, email address, account data, advertising identifier, or precise location to Sentry through Lanterns.

Turning diagnostics off stops future Sentry collection through Lanterns, clears the active Sentry scope, and closes the Sentry client. It does not automatically delete information already received by Sentry. Sentry diagnostics are retained for up to 30 days after receipt, except where a longer period is required to meet a legal obligation or resolve a security incident, dispute, or claim.

Optional PostHog analytics

If you select 16 or older in Lanterns and separately enable Share anonymous usage, we may send PostHog a limited set of pseudonymous gameplay analytics. We call this data pseudonymous, rather than anonymous, because it uses a random identifier and network IP information is received in transit.

The permitted information includes app sessions; tutorial events; puzzle selection, start, restart, abandonment, completion, and hint events; Daily Light gate views; and mural events. Event properties may include first-party content identifiers, puzzle mode and difficulty, bounded counts, duration, app version, build number, platform, environment, SDK/session metadata, and a random pseudonymous identifier.

We use this information to understand how consenting players use Lanterns and to improve the tutorial, puzzles, Daily Light, and mural features. Lanterns does not intentionally send PostHog names, email addresses, account data, contacts, birthdates, precise location, advertising identifiers, free-text entries, raw taps, screen recordings, puzzle-solution coordinates, person profiles, or cross-app tracking data. It does not use PostHog for advertising, session replay, autocapture, surveys, feature flags, or experiments.

Choosing Under 16 or Prefer not to say keeps remote product analytics unavailable. Turning analytics off stops future collection, clears queued events, and resets the local pseudonymous identifier. It does not automatically delete information already received by PostHog. PostHog analytics are retained for up to 90 days after receipt, except where a longer period is required to meet a legal obligation or resolve a security incident, dispute, or claim.

Support, privacy, and legal requests

When you email us, we and the provider that hosts our mailbox may process the information you include, such as your email address, name, message, attachments, app or device details, and any Sentry or PostHog identifier you voluntarily provide. We use it to answer your request, provide support, investigate an issue, fulfill a privacy request, protect Lanterns, and keep an appropriate record of the correspondence.

We retain support, privacy, and legal correspondence for up to 24 months after our last exchange, unless a longer period is necessary for a legal obligation, security issue, dispute, or claim.

Why we process information

We process information to:

provide and maintain gameplay, progress, preferences, tutorial, rewards, and reminders;
remember and enforce your privacy choices;
diagnose and improve reliability when you choose diagnostics;
understand and improve Lanterns when you choose usage analytics;
respond to support, privacy, and legal requests;
comply with law; and
protect the rights, safety, and security of Lanterns, RAEDY, and others.

Where a legal basis is required, we rely on your consent for optional diagnostics and analytics. We may rely on performance of a contract, legal obligations, or our legitimate interests in operating, securing, and supporting Lanterns for other processing, where those interests are not overridden by your rights.

We disclose information only as needed for the purposes above, including to:

Sentry and its subprocessors, when you enable diagnostics;
PostHog and its subprocessors, when you enable usage analytics;
service providers that host our support mailbox, when you contact us;
Apple and Google in connection with app distribution, operating-system services, backups, notifications, and links you choose to open;
professional advisers and transaction participants under appropriate confidentiality protections; and
regulators, courts, law enforcement, or others when required by law or reasonably necessary to protect rights, safety, and security.

We do not sell personal information. We do not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising, use targeted advertising, or make decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects about you.

International transfers

RAEDY is based in the United States. If you enable optional diagnostics or analytics, Sentry and PostHog may process information in the United States. Support providers may also process information in countries other than where you live.

Where required, we use appropriate safeguards for international transfers, such as contractual protections and supplementary technical or organizational measures. You may contact us to ask for more information about applicable transfer safeguards.

Your choices and privacy rights

In-app controls

You can change game settings and notification preferences in Lanterns. You can independently turn off diagnostics and usage analytics in the Privacy screen. Clearing Lanterns data in your operating system or uninstalling the app removes ordinary local app data from that device, subject to any device backups.

Privacy requests

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, object to, or receive a portable copy of personal information; withdraw consent; appeal a decision on a privacy request; or complain to a regulator. To exercise a right, email build@raedy.dev with the subject line Lanterns privacy request.

Please provide enough information for us to understand and verify your request. If your request concerns Sentry or PostHog information, include the relevant pseudonymous identifier if Lanterns made it available to you. Because Lanterns has no accounts, we may be unable to associate a request with a vendor record without an identifier or may need to request limited additional information to verify your request. We will respond within the time required by applicable law.

California and other U.S. state residents

Where applicable, California residents may request to know, correct, or delete personal information and may exercise rights concerning sale, sharing, targeted advertising, sensitive personal information, and non-discrimination. Lanterns does not sell or share personal information as those terms are used for cross-context behavioral advertising, and it does not use targeted advertising. Residents of other U.S. states may have similar rights, including an appeal right, where their state law applies.

EEA, UK, and Switzerland

If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, you may also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data-protection authority. You may withdraw consent to optional diagnostics or analytics at any time without affecting processing that occurred before withdrawal.

Before Lanterns is made available in these regions, RAEDY will determine whether an EU and/or UK representative is required and, if so, will publish that representative's contact details in this policy.

Children and teens

Lanterns is intended for people age 13 and older and is not directed to children under 13. We do not ask players to provide a birthdate or direct identity in the app. Remote PostHog analytics are available only after a player locally chooses the 16-or-older option and separately consents. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact build@raedy.dev so we can investigate and take appropriate action.

Security

We use measures designed to protect information and limit processing, including local-first storage, default-off telemetry, separate consent choices, minimized event allowlists, diagnostic redaction, and restricted SDK features. No system or transmission method is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy when Lanterns, our providers, or applicable requirements change. We will post the updated version with a new effective date and last-updated date. If a change is material, we will provide additional notice when required by law. Updating this policy does not replace consent for optional diagnostics or analytics; where new consent is required, Lanterns will ask for it separately.
